Xavier Debeerst
Xavier Debeerst was born in Ypres (Belgium) and studied art cinema and photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KASK) in Ghent, with a thesis on the history of photography for the European Society for the History of Photography (ESPh).
History and photography always go hand in hand for Xavier Debeerst. He has been particularly concerned with the interplay between photography and other media.
His studies were followed by a period in the art world with various exhibitions. After an international career in marketing (internet), he founded the photo gallery Anamorfose, specializing in historical photography.
Since 2016, Xavier Debeerst has been living and working in the French countryside as an antique dealer. He went to France in search of clear skies to start his astronomy project "Les Observatoires du Clain". The project was slowed down by the Covid crisis. The moment to resume his former passion for painting.
Ongoing Projects:
- Verbeke Foundation (BE), Installation art and astronomy as part of the "Junk Culture - City Art" project.
- "Les Observatoires du Clain," an observatory with historical telescopes.
- _polarity_duality_ , exhibition in Sommières-du-Clain."

Music is very important when I'm working in the Studio. I prefer classic records.
